Sincerity is a virtue that is gradually being buried beneath the sands of time because we have continually ignored its importance and this ignorance is now back to hunt us. Some of us make up stories just to appear alluring to people around us. When we really look at the whole issue, we realize we feel hurt whenever we find out that someone was insincere with us or they want to take advantage of our sincerity and hurt our emotions.
We easily “fool” others with our lies and “modified truth” yet demand truthfulness in return. The whole society has become a place where sincerity earns you no good but expose you to danger from those who seek to exploit what you have.
Whether we would admit it or not, we still value sincerity and would strive to keep people with this virtue around us. As a result of defence mechanism against the cold reality of life, some of us choose not to say the truth always so that we can discover the true intention of the person we are associating with.
Is sincerity worth it in the end? The answer is mostly a “YES” then a “NO”. the answrer to this can be gotten from our everyday activity. Whenever we want to get a product/service, we ask everyone we know about the product to verify if their public advert/policies really match what the product has to offer and we would pick the product/service with the highest satisfaction rate.
Whenever we are faced with a crossroad of whether to be truthful or to lie, why don’t we just ignore the subject matter totally or tell the people involved that we don’t wish to disclose that information about our lives. With the way everyone’s life is intertwined with another individual’s, the truth will always come up someday and we may have long forgotten the lie we told.
Even evil doers demand sincerity within their operation circle and lies to the organization usually come with extreme punishments to the offender. This should be a reminder that we all crave sincerity in all our associations.
Being truthful should be a habit and lifestyle we must adapt to though it may not be easy to adhere to and whenever we feel threatened to give a false answer, lets choose not to say anything because just like the sun & moon, the truth can never be hidden forever.
If we all apply truthfulness to our dealings, the world will be a happier place because doubt will be reduced and potentials put to waste due to doubt of its credibility can also be utilized. Sincerity will give us that feeling of happiness, responsibility we desire to move on in our lives.
