Everyone is entitled to freedom of speech, association and other rights found in the constitution in different countries, yet we still rise everyday to fight for a cause that may primarily be our righy. All these brings us to the question that " Are our human rights exercised fully?" I have seen people suffer brutality in close contact when they try to plead their cause.
Stray bullets, horse whips, physical assault, unjustified arrests has been the outcome for exercising or demanding for our rights are allowed. You must be wondering why no law enforcement agency didn't stop all these autrocities. The saddening reason is that the law representatives are usually the one sent by "people in power" to subdue our uprising and we often oppress people too just for display of power and authority.
Enslaved to accept the fate of oppression, we watch our rights and humanity trampled upon because some people have been placed above the law. The legislature are often the one that makes the law and violate the rules.
Dreams have been killed, hope destroyed by our own government and influential people take possession of any land they wish without compensation to the real owners and we often don't bother to press charges and sue because repeatedly, the government and these people have won because of the biased legal system.
The few successful endorsement of our rights that our striving has gained are achieved through resilience, preserverance, involving the mass media and sometimes international interference.
Strengthening our legal system is one of the major steps we need to take and we would need to avoid using violence in demanding for our rights since destroying government properties has been linked to why we experience assaults in the hands of our law.
Preferential treatment should be abolished when enforcing the law and there should be no discrimination to gender, age and race in exercising rights as pro ided under the law and effective penalties should be put into our constitution for those who hinder people from exercising their rights.
We can only feel that sense of security and contentment to exercise and enjoy our fundamental rights when we review the activities of our 3 arms of government with indiscriminate penalty to anyone who violates them.
Before you arrive to plead for a cause, be sure what you are fighting for is permissible under the law and with benefits to lives & properties and always seek support from those around you.
If we follow up matters as guided by law with no display of violence, maybe then we will create a good and appealing image for ourselves to be listened to.
