EQUALITY

What does equality mean to you? Is it to have even distribution of facilities, opportunities and power shared amongst people? Or is it to get justification and suppoto when we indulge in acts that people of diverse culture have engaged in with no criticism?
Equality has diverse meaning to each individual but do we really desire equality or superiority? We want both gender to have equal opportunities at work without discrimination yet we would solicit for lighter workload and equal paycheck for both genders.
We want equality yet we are biased in judgement to offence committed to a gender claiming an action can only be wrong when a gender does this. A clear example is a fan girl running up the stage to hug or grab a male artists or athlete on the pitch ;this action will earn delight in the sight of most people but rapidly leads to lambaste & criticism if the gender involved were reversed.

Equality has helped us in achieving our dreams since there is no restrictions in gender to activities permissible by the law that one can engage in to achieve his/her goals. Equality has brought about respect between the two genders and provided a platform to exchange viewpoint between the people.
Equality has also been our undoing as we forget that there has to be a balance in everything we do and the ability to decide on what is right and what is wrong g is what makes us higher beings.
Reaching a compromise has to occur occasionally and an example is allocating jobs that require strenght and rigor to the men at workplace and giving the women the less tedious ones.
Accepting that everything depends on age and time is also necessary because equality doesn't mean we would employ a child or unqualified person for a job. Equality is just like respect, it should be earned by exhibiting hard work, eligibility and diligence to the situation we find ourselves in.
If only we assess situations with unbiased scrutiny with reference to criteria, eligibility and conditions to be fulfilled as written in our professional and country's constitution, then we may achieve the feeling of equality that comes with contentment.
Only if you open up your mind and not enslave it to think that anything can limit your chances. Hard work and diligence will pave way for success and fulfilment we seek to achieve.
