Over the years, there has been occasional argument on why musicians, actors and models have been idolised as sex icons owing to their beauty, explicit dressing/entertainment style and regular people are called "whores" when their actions are only similar to this sex icons.
We shamelessly talk about what physical attributes we find "sexually appealing" in our stars and even wishing to be like them/being romantically linked with a person with their features.
We don't hesitate to criticise anyone who dresses explicitly, use explicit words and live the extravagant lives some of these celebrities live. This is because we have developed a bias towards our favourite celebrities and see them as perfect humans who can do no wrong.
If we can criticise regular people, we should be able to criticise our celebrities when their action cross the moral border. We should be able to apply the same laws that penalise improper dressings to our celebrities because no one should be above the law.
There is no crime in appreciating the beauty of a person, but when we start engaging in explicit dressings just to look more appealing our beauty lose its sense of value and I would liken it to receiving a wrapped present and a gift whose pack has been tampered with. We may even return the unwrapped gift and prefer a wrapped one even though they contain the same package.
We need to learn to be sincere in addressing beauty even though its characteristics vary according to our perception. We also need to learn not to judge people because we have varying beliefs, culture, tradition, religion which determines things about us including our dressing.
We shouldn't lambaste people easily because of their appearance because they may not view it as bad depending on their values.
Hypocrisy is what we should not promote. Don't criticise some and praise others for the same thing. Criticism of other people's dressing and celebrities dressing/words and actions should always be in line with societal rules and not just our personal bias thoughts and everyone should endeavour to always consider the diversity in our cultures.
Be sincere and polite about your observation. We should also emphasise the fact that nudity isn't equivalent to beauty.
